Missing Text Editing boxes in the content design page

Hi
Im using a template and have filled in the content - but soon realized I was not able to edit the text ie. change font, font size, or more important add a hyperlink....I can see the text editing boxes on my work pc - but at home on my laptop - they do not appear on my content editing page...is there somewhere to toggle the view on?
