Need help on site downtime problem
« on: July 03, 2010, 01:32:43 AM »
I recently noticed my site (hosted by somewhere else) experiencing down time in the past few days. However, my friend's website also hosted by the same company as mine seems perfectly ok. Does anybody have any ideas on what went wrong?

First of all, you need to find out who is servicing your website and domain registration. You will need to find out if this is a web hosting problem, or domain registration problem. If your website is hosted by Doteasy.com, please open a service ticket with us and we will investigate further for you.

Thanks for your reply. However, I've checked with my hosting company and seems like everything is normal. Domain is active. But occasionally my site still experiences downtime. Do you know if there are any other possible explanations of such problem? Thanks.

If your current web host only provide shared IP for your websites, there are chances that you are experiencing IP blocking which is controlling by your ISP.

IP blocking prevents the connection between a server/website and certain IP addresses or ranges of addresses. IP blocking effectively bans undesired connections from those computers to a website, mail server, or other Internet server. If one of the website is having problem on your web host's server, your ISP might blocked it to avoid problems. Therefore, all other websites under the same web server will also be blocked since they are sharing with the same IP address.

Here is an article that showing the importances of an unique IP in term of web hosting.

FYI, unique IP addresses are offered on both our Ultra Hosting and Unlimited Hosting plans at NO additional cost. Feel free to let us know if you are interested to transfer your hosting service to Doteasy and we will more than happy to assist you further.

Thanks for your reply. I've checked my hosting provider and just found out my site is using shared IP. Seems like this is the problem. Thanks. I will consider moving to Doteasy.
