When you order a Shared SSL for your account, you are using the SSL certificate we have installed on your server. The SSL certificate is registered under the name of the web server and is shared by the clients on the server.
Because this is a shared certificate, URL for your pages secured on the shared SSL certificate will use a special URL under the server name.
Example:
https://servername.doteasy.com/~yourIDWhile the shared SSL offers encryption capability at a fraction of the price of purchasing a dedicated SSL, the https:// URL might not appear as professional for e-commerce shopping carts.
With dedicated SSL, the URL is determined by you. You can have your private secure URL as
https://secure.yourname.com/ or
https://yourdomain.com.
Dedicated SSL gives your site a more professional appearance in their address bar when someone is in the secure area. Using Dedicated SSL certificate projects a better image to your clients. You can place a private SSL secured seal on your site and build the trust of it.
