[SOLVED] Cursor movement problem in windows8
« on: January 01, 2013, 03:40:21 PM »
I just got a new Dell laptop with Windows8. When writing a new email in Smartmail, I can't relocate the cursor using the touch pad. I can move the pointer to where I want to type, but the cursor doesn't go there when I tap the touchpad or even when I left click. It does however move when I right click, but that brings up a menu and I have to left click to get out of that menu and type again.

So in short, a left click does nothing when trying to move the cursor, nor does tapping on the touchpad when composing in the body of a Smartmail email.

I didn't have this problem with my other computers running XP and Windows 7.

The issue may be due to a number of reasons (from various compatibility issues to the touchpad itself). What we recommend is try connecting a USB mouse to the laptop and see whether you can move the cursor and place it in the locations you want it to go without any issues. You should also test using a different web browser to see if the results are the same.

An alternative to using the webmail interface(SmartMail), is to POP the emails using an email client(such as Outlook or Thunderbird). If you need the mail settings, you can contact Support via email using the case ticketing system: http://doteasy.com/support/
