"Redemption Period"
« on: July 26, 2010, 11:01:14 PM »
My domain name expired in May. I wanted to renew it, but was told that the domain name was in the "Redemption Period" and that there would be an extra fee to recover the name. What is the redemption period, and why do I have to pay more money to renew the same domain name?

The domain is 40-70 days of expiry

Once the domain renewal grace period has lapsed, the expired domain will be returned to the registry. During this time, the domain name will be locked by the registry.

The domain is still renewable, however there will be an additional US$100.00 Domain Redemption fee to retrieve the domain from the registry (not apply for all domain extensions).

The domain renewal needs to be processed manually. Please contact us directly for further instructions.
